Microscopic aluminium microparticles, called UltraCodes, are the power behind the UltraPlex system. About 10 of these tiny particles laid end to end would cover 1mm, but they pack a lot of power for their size.

That's because each particle is physically etched with a unique barcode. And each barcoded particle can accomodate a different assay. Any assay. Then you can mix the particles in a single tube or well and perform hundreds of assays all in the same tube, at the same time. Less reagents, less time, more data.

And because the barcode is digital, errors identifying the particles are much lower than for conventional analog multiplexing, such as dye-bead technology. Digital multiplexing is temperature-independent, light insensitive and provides a permanent record for archiving and audit trails.

It doesnt stop there. The coding capacity of digital multiplexing is hundreds of times greater than analog technology. We could encode at least 5 billion parallel assays (if we could think of that many). And that capability makes UltraPlex the only choice for next-generation profiling diagnostics.

The SmartStation liquid-handling robot accepts a wide range of primary tubes, and rapidly processes any of the UltraPlex range of assay kits with a handful of keystrokes. A typical assay is complete in under 4 hours, and up to three runs are possible in a normal working day, processing up to 240 samples.

The assay plate is then transferred to the SmartReader, which rapidly reads the barcoded microparticles and compiles the test results. Our custom software is fully compatible with all major LIMS systems, with a range of user-ciustomised reporting formats.
