Physical
The SmartReader consists of the image acquisition unit and a stand-alone PC which can operate both the SmartReader and SmartStation. Approximately 1 sq.m of standard laboratory benching is required to accomodate the system.
The image acquisition unit incorporates high quality Olympus optics, fitted with a filterset optimised for detection of red dyes. Custom systems to detect other fluorescent reporters, including multi-colour detection are available - please contact us to discuss your requirements).
Performance
The SmartReader acquires images from a complete 96-well plate in approximately 90 minutes, decoding the assays and reporting the results in real time. The mis-read rate is low (<0.6%) translating to virtually error-free decoding (since the occassional mis-read code is not recognised in most assays). The SmartReader boasts excellent replicate reproducibility (<5% at half maximal signal) comparable to the conventional absorbance-based ELISA plate readers.
Applications
The SmartReader can read any assay based on UltraPlex. All the UltraPlex Autoimmune products from Pronostics come with a pre-programmed work flow, enabling on-button operation and automatic report generation.
