SmartReader

Pronostics have developed a dedicated reader for the UltraPlex™ SmartSystem.

The SmartReader is a self-contained unit occupying approximately 0.3 sq.m of benchspace, operated through a dedicated PC workstation. The unit accepts standard 96-well plates and reads up to 27,000 microparticles per hour at the press of a single button.

Each well in turn is scanned and particles are decoded from a phase-contrast image. Simultaneously, the output of the assay is quantified from a fluorescent image of the same field of view. At least 10 particles of each code are measured in each well, and the mean fluorescence reported.

Less than 0.6% of particle codes are mis-read (resulting in an effectively zero rate of particle mis-identification when only a tiny fraction of available codes are in use).
The very low intrinsic fluorescence of the aluminium substrate, together with its low protein binding results in a high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The SmartReader also has reproducibility comparable to conventional absorbance-based ELISA plate readers.

Available off the shelf, and fully validated, the SmartReader is the ideal solution for most medium throughput applications. And it looks Smart too.
