profiling diagnostics for a wide range of diseases

Conventional diagnostic tests measure one (or at most a handful) of analytes at once. The doctor then interprets a series of such tests to make a diagnosis. For example, a urine glucose test identifies diabetes, but further tests (such as plasma insulin levels) are needed to separate IDDM and NIDDM.

Pronostics are exploting the power of UltraPlex™, the world's first infinitely scaleable multiplex platform, to develop a new range of profiling diagnostics which change the whole approach to disease diagnosis.

Our profiling diagnostic tests capture a comprehensive picture of the immune system, by coating as many as 25 billion different antigens onto UltraPlex™ particles. This immune profile is then compared to our databases of thousands of profiles, and signatures associated with different diseases are rapidly identified.

The first test based on this revolutionary immune profiling capability, implemented using UltraPlex™, provides the first reliable diagnosis of heart disease from a simple bloode sample. This test, called CADprint is currently being tested in large clinical trials in hospitals around the country. Our findings to date are very encouraging, and we expect to launch CADprint in mid-2008. As the product launch approaches more details will appear here - so watch this space.

But CADprint is only the beginning. Many other diseases will likely also be identified by their immunological signature, and Pronostics is developing a whole range of next-generation profiling diagnostics. Our vision sees a Pronostics box on the desk of every GP. Within minutes of providing a drop of the blood, the sample will be profiled and as many as a hundred different diseases detected in a single test.

The success of CADprint brings this vision one step closer to reality. UltraPlex technology not only helps you do more, faster and cheaper, it opens up a whole new world of profiling diagnostics.
